The Antioch Waves Swim Team is a non-profit organization in Antioch, Illinois that provides competitive swim experience for local youth ages 5-18. Competition is structured by age level (8 & under, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15+), with separate events for boys and girls. A swimmer's age as of June 1st determines his/her age class. All practices and home meets are held at the Antioch Aqua Center. Registration is first come, first serve, with priority given to existing Waves team members. Team members must be 5-18 years of age on June 1 and must be able to swim 33.33 yards, unassisted, to participate. No tryouts are required. Practices are M-F mornings beginning the first weekday after the final day of school (Districts 33 and 34). Swimmers are expected to practice a minimum of two times per week to swim in meets. The season ends in late July. Meets are on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and some Saturdays. We swim rain or shine. Parents are a key part of the team. They are expected to work one of many interesting volunteer jobs during each home meet. Swim meets are arranged by event, age, and gender. The meet follows the order of events determined by our conference (NCISC). The events alternate event, age group, and boys/girls for a total of 84 events.
